  • How do I add HBO Max to my video service (DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM or U-verse TV)?

    Call 1-800-288-2020 or visit https://www.att.com/premium-channels/hbo to add HBO Max to your TV subscription. Subscription includes HBO channels, on demand and the HBO Max app. 

    DIRECTV customers can add HBO Max instantly by tuning to channel 501 and following the prompts. You must have a connected HD DVR to access this feature.

    DIRECTV STREAM customers can visit Accounts Overview to add HBO Max to their subscription.

  • I’m an AT&T Wireless customer. How do I stream HBO Max?

    If you already activated HBO Max for your AT&T Unlimited Elite plan before May 27, 2020, or have an AT&T Unlimited Choice, Enhanced Choice, Plus, or Enhanced Plus plan and didn’t receive your HBO benefit for U-verse TV or DIRECTV, here's what to do:

    1.     Download the HBO Max app.
    2.     Select AT&T as your provider.
    3.     Sign in with your AT&T user ID and password.

    If you have the AT&T Unlimited &MoreSM Premium wireless plan but haven’t enrolled in WatchTV and have selected a premium:

    1.     Go to https://www.attwatchtv.com/verify.
    2.     Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your wireless plan, set up your account, and choose your premium.
    3.     Download the HBO Max app, select AT&T as your provider, and sign in with your AT&T user ID and password.

    If you activated HBO Max for your AT&T Unlimited Elite plan after May 27, 2020, here's what to do:

    1.    Sign in to your account at att.com/myatt.

  • I am an AT&T Video customer how do I stream HBO Max?

    If you have DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM or U-verse TV:

    1.    Download the HBO Max app or visit hbomax.com.

    2.    Choose your provider (AT&T or DIRECTV).

    3.    Sign in with your AT&T or DIRECTV user ID and password and start streaming.

  • Where can I find my AT&T user ID and password?
    You can verify your user ID and password at att.com/myatt. Don’t have an AT&T ID? You can also create a new one.
  • What if I have multiple AT&T sign-in credentials?
    Sign in with the user ID and password connected to your eligible account that includes your HBO Max subscription. As multiple IDs can be associated with your eligible AT&T product, you may need to validate that you’re using the correct one.
  • Already have an HBO Max account?
    To keep your existing HBO Max profiles and watch history, you may need to update the email on the Create Account screen when you sign in with your AT&T user ID. If the email address pre-populated on the screen is different from your current HBO Max service email address, update the email and then choose Create Account, follow the Verify Email address steps to link your existing account to your HBO Max subscription through AT&T. If the email addresses are already the same, choose the Create Account button and follow the steps.
  • How do I sign into HBO Max on an Apple device using my AT&T wireless or internet user ID when my Apple device keeps recognizing my saved TV provider settings?
    You can use your Apple iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or an Apple TV to watch HBO Max. Go to our support page to get detailed steps on how to sign in to HBO Max, and get troubleshooting tips, and more.
  • What do I do when I get the 205.5 error when signing into my DIRECTV account?

    It’s a quick fix. Just sign into your DIRECTV account to change your password.

    To update your password:

    1.  Go to directv.com and sign in.
    2.  Select My Account, then select My account Info.
    3.  Look under Login Information and select Change My Password.
    4.  Change your password. You’ll get an email stating your password was changed.
    5.  Sign back into HBO Max using your new password.

  • What if I cancel my AT&T service?
    Any HBO Max access associated with that service will also end unless you have another AT&T service that provides access to HBO Max. If not, you can subscribe to HBO Max directly at www.hbomax.com. You can use your current HBO Max User ID associated with AT&T account to maintain your profile.
  • Can I watch HBO Max on any device?
    You can watch HBO Max on many popular devices: phones, tablets, Mac and PC browsers, streaming media players, and game consoles. Check out the complete list of devices.
